The Prodigy - I

"Luka, solve this one for me, will ya?"

"It's the third one, and you're a freshman at 26, dumbass. Don't waste my time. "

"What'd ya' say to me, ya' punk ass bitch?"

"You heard it. And what are you gonna do about it?"

This was pretty much the life of Luka Greenacre. Learning to speak at 4 months old, simple arithmetic at an year old, high school algebra at five, and advanced calculus at seven, he was what you would consider a prodigy. A freshman in Dartmouth at twelve, he was the youngest ever, the perfect SAT probably being the least impressive part of his resume.

Having written a research paper at 8 and filing his parents taxes when kids his age were learning to color inside the lines, egotistical was an understatement for him. Arrogance bursting through his veins, he put his peers down almost every opportunity he got. Perhaps the most valued at his school, no one really took action on the complaints against him.

One day, his world flipped on its axis. Luka was returning to his cozy townhouse in new Hampshire, surprised to see at least 9 - 10 cars lined outside. As he entered the red brick building to investigate, the cold aura enveloping the room overwhelmed him. Members of his extended family sitting on the mink covered off-white sofas, a tragic and pitiful expression on their faces, as a seemingly sinister gust of air wafted the scent of the chilly winters of Hanover into the room, the white walls of the living room further amplifying the sensation of cold.

He first deduction was that this was some sort of a family gathering, nulled by the absence of his parents from the room. He had just returned from his trip to the Griffith observatory in LA, after a week, and thought everyone was there to greet him. The next 5 minutes were the most incomprehensible moments of his life, being a born genius. His brilliant mind was struggling to take in the information just received by his senses, that this was the "moment", the turning point of his life. His parents were dead.

Turning point sure, but Luka Greenacre's life had just turned the wrong way....
